Riccwebb’s Weblog
Just another WordPress.com weblogHow I got my tattoo…”Missing Ink”
As an employee at the Missing Link you might not get pension or a dental plan…but once a year, Marcus from metal machine tattoo’s is flown up from Cape Town to ink your skin how ever you please…and beside the tattoo, the coffee’s free too
The craziest part about it all is that invitations are sent to the Missing Links clients as well, inviting them to come along and join in on the fun…CEO’s, Marketing Managers, investment bankers…no one is safe from the itch of the ink, and everyone jumps on board, but most importantly…everyone will remember the idea of a free tattoo instead of a traditional client lunch or branded coffee mug. Challenge the expected.
Brilliant Coke billboard ads (Co-branding)
So a little something I was rather fascinated with back at varsity was the idea of “co-branding”. Canadian agency MacLAREN McCANN executed this awesome outdoor campaign, but what’s really interesting is the merging of Coca Cola with these other brands…but wait, there’s more: These brands DON’T exist! They’ve actually been spoofed to drive home the execution…awesome.
Nokia lights up London
This Nokia installation to promote OVI maps is absolutely awesome! The best part is how people can actually interact with the projector like that, great use of technology.
Brilliant Nike ad – DJ spin that shoe!
DJ duo Hifana and Wieden + Kennedy, Tokyo have made this awesome Nike commercial using Nike Free run + shoes!
It might seem a little fake, but check out the “making of” after the vid
Mission Impossible Ice tea
Ever wondered how Lalo Schifrin created the Mission Impossible theme song? Well…have a cuppa Lipton and smell the bullshit.
Untitled
Hats off to Ivar Haglund, founder of the Ivars Seafood Restaurant chain in Seattle. This man, according to the legends, decided to sink billboards underwater promoting his restaurant chain…why? For people of the future traveling in submarine’s to see of course.
Where awesome was born…Thunk! offices are all too rad
Looking back, I can’t help but appreciate my time at Thunk! with Don Packett and Rich Mulholland. Two talented individuals with the poison of awesome, and between the three of us we created one extraordinary working environment…with the help of Nic and his skill on the spray cans of course. Great start to my career and I really hope they keep kicking ass. P.S. Really miss my bunkbed
